The supposed fire facts seem somewhat flawed as anyone who has experienced fire first hand can attest to.
The lack of visible flames does not suggest in the slightest that a fire was automatically being starved of oxygen, etc. Fires can smoulder for ages, growing in intensity along the way, and without dimunition in temperature values, and yet not be readily visible. The same goes for metal based fires.
As for fire temperatures - one's gas burner at home often has a temperature well in excess of the 1300 quoted in the article. Same for the centre of a lit match.
