Should add that DJS has forecast a decline in NPAT for 1H12 of between 15-20%. Myer has provided guidance that NPAT for 2012 will be up to 10% below 2011. So if dividend payout ratios remain the same, DJS dividend has got more downside than MYR's although in all honesty, I would be more comfortable with MYR reducing its dividend even more so it can pay off some of its debt.
With the downgrades issued by several brokers, Myer's share price is pricing in a NPAT outcome worse than 10% down. I think 10% decline is looking optimistic.
