Craig Thompson, MP, is issuing invitations to a $3000 a head Labor Party fund raiser to be held at Aria restaurant on January 23rd. (Gold plated dinnerware?)
Thompson himself is facing a pre-selection for his seat of Dobell in two weeks time. Opinion is he's got Buckley's. All most peculiar.
(Mr. Thompson is presently facing investigation for alleged past misuse of his Union funded credit card if you've just returned to Australia. Fair Work is three years down the track with this "massive" investigation - looks like another two years to come, this seems to be so difficult! Yep - around the time of the next Federal election - we should perhaps hear something fro Fair Work about outcomes!)
As well as hearing from Mr. Thompson at this lavish event, the Keynote speaker at this (strange) function - Minister for Trade Craig Emerson (who, if you need a reminder) in past times (polite cough) was a heavy love interest of our beloved leader, Ms. Julia Gillard. (Mr. Emerson seems to be the official pop-up apologist for said Ms. Gillard whenever there's some deep strife. A sort of Knight in shining Armour!)
Speculation has it that Mr. Thompson is running this fund-raiser having felt an obligation to retrieve for his Party some of the $200,000 plus legal fees they have laid out so far to support him.
I am sure the major media are carrying this report. Or are they?? Depends what color they are, I suppose.
