I was really clarifying for some posters who quite righly question the relevance of Billabong as a brand to youth markets when mum and dad wear it..
the variety in the product mix gives them the opportunity to profit in different demographics..but they have to get the mix right
As for their business model, well it is a bit one dimensional I agree, but I don't think they need to diversify too much but maybe they need to more clearly define and market to - different demographics with their different brands..
The brand Billabong itself, needs a major overhaul..where brands like Colorado were just not unique enough and were definately not cool, a brand like Billabong can target the surf/leisure wear market in a unique way..
