Bellamy's actions are more than strange. He seems convinced of his point of view and desperate to back it up with evidence. As Monbiot said

"It is hard to convey just how selective you have to be to dismiss the evidence for climate change. You must climb over a mountain of evidence to pick up a crumb: a crumb which then disintegrates in your palm. You must ignore an entire canon of science, the statements of the world’s most eminent scientific institutions, and thousands of papers published in the foremost scientific journals. You must, if you are David Bellamy, embrace instead the claims of an eccentric former architect, which are based on what appears to be a non-existent data set. And you must do all this while calling yourself a scientist."

It is sloppy at the least; dishonest at worst. But thanks for clarifying the climate change question, Dave. It's all natural. Nothing to worry about, and we couldn't do anything anyway. Kind of like Allah's will, and you cant go against that, can you? Now all the scientists researching climate change can find another diversion......................

An interesting article, though, and with great parallels to the anti-fluoridationists. Of course, demonstrating the efficacy and safety of water fluoridation was a miniscule task in comparison, but the unanimoulsy favourable research has done nothing to allay the paranoid minority.

What I cant understand why some people would descend into an abyss of conspiracy and nonsense, when Bjorn Lomborg demonstrates a far more logical stance (i.e. Yes, the climate is changing, and you would be a fool to think that humans are not having an effect. Now what is the best way to deal with any change?). But if your beliefs are like religious faith there is no other way to go, is there?

Seremban Rations Water As Dry Spell Causes Acute Shortage

SEREMBAN, June 20 (Bernama) -- Several areas in Negeri Sembilan are facing a water crisis with their supply of clean water expected to last only 39 more days unless emergency measures are taken, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said.

He said rationing was introduced a few days ago to domestic users in Seremban, Mambau and Senawang between 8am and 8pm.

The rationing did not affect supply to industries, he added.

Mohamad said the water rationing would save about 22.7 million litres of water daily in Talang Dam, which is the main source of clean water supply for residents in Seremban.

"It is now at a critical level and must be managed well," he said, adding that the situation was caused by the prolonged dry spell.

The state government would install another pump at the Talang Dam at a cost of RM3 million to pump in an additional 45 million litres of water from the Muar River, he told reporters after a meeting of the State Executive Council.

He said the Negeri Sembilan Water Supply Department would be asked to install pressure pumps at certain locations to detect water theft.

Mohamad said the water problem in the state would be overcome with the construction of the RM750 million Teriang and RM200 million Batu Hampar dams.

He said the two projects were approved for implementation under the Eighth Malaysia Plan but, since no allocation was received from the federal government, they would be included under the Ninth Malaysia Plan.
