Got a friend (a teacher) who was working for the prison system over in Brisbane on the education side of things.
he had some pretty nasty kids there, including juvenile killers. He told me that the common dream & aspiration of those "kids' was to go to that "Big House" you mention, where they all had adult relatives, and take their place among the "hard men".
No remorse whatsoever.
Sad.
