Fox I don't think all that much of the historic 1/16 ratio anymore either. I used to, but then I read into it.

In 1792 the US government set the ratio of 1/15 and wrote it into law via the 'American Act for Establishing a Mint'.

So the ratio is just something that the government of the day (a very young government, just fresh from independance from Britain) believed would help America on it's path to growth and prosperity.

So I see it as a bit of a hangover argument to put merit in that ratio, as I believe it traded around that mark in the open market on the back of people trusting (Treasurer - Alexander Hamilton) knew what he was doing in setting the 1/15 ratio in the first place. Did he? What was his reasoning?

Anyway the more open market (yes manipulated somewhat) is now determining the ratio and right now it sits around 1/54.

I believe that silver regardless of it's ratio against gold is becoming a strong investment in it's own right.

Thus I'm bullish on company's like CCU that are about to start producing it in decent quantities.
