Not too longer ago, Australia enacted the White Australia Immigration policy in the 70's which was a racist act to prevent non whites immigrating. Thank god that was gone.
Australians seem to have a problem with all waves of immigrants, maybe because of it's remoteness. Every wave of immigrants tell stories of racism. First the Italians, then the Vietnamese Boat People, Then the Africans and then the Latest Boat people. Eventually, the early waves get accepted.
I have practically lived all my life in Australia since I was a year old and of SE Asian descent. We used to get idiotic bogans shouting from their cars to ask me to go home. Now a days, I just can't be bothered with these people as it doesn't bother me but for my kids sake we do need to stamp out the bag racist eggs.
I wonder how many caucasian Australians who have lived overseas has actually experienced racism and know what it feels like. Put yourself in someone's shoe who is facing racism and try to think how hard it would be for them. If you had any sense of empathy, you will understand the need to forever stamp out racism. It's great that we have such a noble man Like Charles speaking his piece.
