Trolls are in the eye of the beholder. What seems an outrageous post to one is quite reasonable to another. It's either just a tactic to shut someone up or a sign of a sheltered life.

I think that there are some who have transferred the idolatry of religion for the idolatry of science and more particularly, scientists. To state the bleedin' obvious they are just people with all their virtues and vices.
If an ordinary person said that they would like to see the world population reduced by 60 or more percent and that would involve(whether stated or not) a totalitarian government with a loss of human rights, democracy and any vestige of autonomy and would involve forced sterilizations, abortions, infanticide(as per China), the virtual reintroduction of neo-feudalism most would think them crazy and that they should obviously be never let anywhere near real power. However if celebrity "scientists",( though in fact ideologues) say the same thing for some reason people accept it or at least take it seriously.
