This is very wrong concerning Victoria's coal which is according to Vic Govt website..

"Victoria’s brown coal is typically low in ash, sulphur, heavy metals and nitrogen, making it very low in impurities by world standards."

"In areas of the Loy Yang deposit, substantial quantities of
coal with less than 1% ash occur."

Sulphur varied from 0.1% to 5% depending on the where and the seam, but briquettes were made for years with 0.3%. The Vic Govt website quotes "<1%".

On the issue of where a CTL plant would be built, the Victorian political parties have always been of the view of "poor old Victoria", hence the free kick to owners of brown coal power plant through Fed Govt buy-back under the Carbon Tax. The view has been for at least 10 years I remember "its not Victoria's fault they have brown coal".

There are also, need I point out, exactly zero votes at Surprise-1 compared to La Trobe Valley, so please don't factor in value to your CTP pricing structure.
