What is stopping someone like BHP coming in and making an offer on everything.

Had a little chat to a dude from BHP the other day and we got onto talking about how BHP has set aside $80 billion over the next five years for expansion/acquisitions etc.

In his words he was saying "do you know how difficult it is to spend $80 billion in five years. It's over a billion dollars a month!"
