Presumably you have a limit to how much you will go short in total or do you have endless capacity to short more?
Anyway, I disagree with the concept of short selling. If I form a view that your house is overvalued should I be allowed to short sell a portion of it, even though I don't own it, and thereby reduce its market value? Your bank could lend me some of your house to sell without your knowledge. Then your bank could turn around and tell you that your home loan lacks sufficient security and you must lodge more.
Shorting is a tool for deep pocketed institutions to manipulate the market and there is a lack of transparency for real investors.
