It seems strange to me that aboriginies are so tolerated by the Australian society - but it's an impressive thing that you do.

I understand that for some aboriginal people the change to the western culture has been a huge problem, like tolerance to alcohol. It's a great thing to help.

But one can sustain a "victimed" or "wronged" society.

For most aboriginal people I feel that they use what has happened 100 or 200 years ago to past generations as some sort of right.
Whilst that is understandable, it would be like us blaiming a 20 year old German for what Germany has done in the past (and a very much more recent past).

In Europe, whilst the brits will say things like "don't mention the war", there is very very little (if any) resentment towards the current German people for what happened only 70 years ago (and that was the second time they did it).

It is gone. One could try to make up for past wrongs, but how far do you go. Rome invaded the UK, Norway invaded the UK, France invade the UK, Spain invaded the UK, the UK invaded France, France invaded the UK, the UK invaded France etc etc etc....

I remember visiting Ayers rock many years ago. It was mentioned by a guide that the local aboriginal people (who were quite happy to take lots of money for my entry to the park) would prefer that one does not climb the rock.

Whilst I could understand that - it played on my mind that it was believed that aboriginal people arrived in Australia 27,000 years ago (some believe it could be 50,000 years ago). But the current living people had been there for 80 years at the most. The rock is believed to be 540 million years old. It had been there for 540 million years before any human was here and it'll be there probably for another 540 million years after we are all dead and gone. I went up it!

Sometimes one needs to move on.
