    bowral,

for what its worth i agree this issue should never be about "guilt trips". What it should be about is empowering a group of people who largely believe they have been brushed aside even after sorrygate. i think the general population misunderstand this issue as just a cash grab or a guilt trip.

the system is fundamentally flawed if we have to, in 2012 vote on whether or not a peoples should be recognised in the constitution. there should be another referendum on a republic imo where another constitution is written up by people like yourself who are completely removed from the rampant hate and racism that existed even 100 or so years ago. the legal framework does not adequately recognise the aboriginal people.

"Burn the Australian Flag????..... They are rabble rousers, anarchist, LOSERS who cant make an "Aussie Go of it" in a real world = They want Handout outs, but never do anything to earn such welfare." its racist generalisations like this that fail to take into account alot of aboriginal peoples were displaced from there homes and they never been adequately recompensed. let me guess arabs are terrorists and indians drive taxis? very dangerous thinking
