Hi Kal,

Isladar has no idea 'who' he is talking to and how much you know.

He is either 'reaching out' wanting us to explain things for him or one of those people that 'doesn't let reality get in the way of them having a good time'. Personally I gave up based on prior responses and would not engage with him elsewhere on another thread either - for the same reason.

Time is precious - wishing Islader well with his self education on mining. It is interesting that probably the biggest single block anybody can have on learning is that they think they know the subject before they really do. In some cases before they even gain the most rudimentary understanding.

I get people at times who read a newspaper on the weekend and watch the news, that is the extent of their research and yet they tell me how the economy works or what gold is going to do. Even when I tell them about the people I have worked with, even worked for me and where I have been published etc, what I do for a living - and eat, breathe and crap all day and into the night it makes no difference to their view.

I sometimes tell them I learned about the debt markets from a guy who was head of structured products for x international bank - for all of Asia for many years - and who used to lecture Central Banks and even set up a billion Euro fund himself... or about a guy who worked for me who used to run the Fx and interest rate trading rooms for x massive US bank and they still don't get it.

They watch the news and so and the real estate institute told them property was going up in Sydney this year - the boom is back on :-( They saw it on the TV so it must be true :-(

This has been happening for years so I don't get flustered anymore as they are welcome to their opinion. I now tell them to go invest heavily based on their opinion if they are so sure the information they were given was unbiased and reliable - and their assumptions, DD and research are right.

We can all fall for this trap at times - something to watch about ourselves. Assumptions and the unknown unknowns can cost you dearly.

With probably 70 years between us Kal, on this subject I bet you are still as keen to learn every day as I am. My mind is open. So don't egg him on mate - please please :-) it is hard to watch.

Have you seen the show "an idiot abroad" might suit your sense of humor. Not saying there is any link there to Isladar just that the subject in the show offers funny opinions based on zero understanding. I am sure that Isladar has some knowledge of mining stocks and is much smarter than that guy.
