The customer developer: this is the highest level that a 3PL provider can attain with respect to its processes and activities. The 3PL (3rd Party Logistics) provider integrates itself with the customer and takes over their entire logistics and merchandising functions and will perform extensive and detailed tasks for them. We are charged effectively only when we sell product.
Unit costing gets down to size of products, batch sizes, Distributor network territories and locations -the final calculated % per individual unit are calculated on replenishment of stock, the 3PL also has customer follow up calls to ascertain stock out points.
Policing the quality of service is paramount and relatively a simple process. If 3PL Co falls short here they lose their business -my knowledge is they excel at service as every sale !! brings in their % per individual sale and thus their revenue. Quality of service is not an issue....
I would certainly hope that with all the dollars paid to POH's Marketing people there finger should be on the pulse regarding 3PL providers - after all POH certainly must know the current presentation of Elixia in re sellers is in total unsupported mess?
