I cannot see the government missing this window of opportunity to grant the licence. The ramifications of not granting the licence would be seen by other major industrial companies as a "No Go Zone" if that were to happen imho. The risk of investment would be too great and they would look at other possibilities around the region with Vietnam being one of them.

That is not what the Malaysian government is wanting to project to the rest of the world. Sure this has been politicised and the current government is between a rock and a hard place knowing that the opposition is using this opportunity to try and win votes and at the same time discredit the current government. Unfortunately, Lynas is smack in the middle of it. Sure there will be some investors pointing the finger at NC asking "Why didn't he see this coming and what steps did he take as a contingency plan if we did not get the licence?"

Well if i had of been in his shoes i would have taken the same risk knowing full well that the opposition would have opposed it. Simple really. Lynas is at the cutting edge leading the way to provide shortfalls in both Light and Heavy Ree's for years to come. Don't forget we have the Duncan deposit.
Future technology and new innovations will provide an even greater reliance on Rare Earths pushing up the demand side.
To be the forerunner is very special in an ever evolving industry.

Nope, the calculated risk was worth it imho.
