Surely Merriden was a success, 20 meters per hour drilling !

That why it only took 47.5 hours to complete and get to 950 meters. But lets factor in the time it took to change bits and run casing etc, lets say production rate is 3 times the drilling rate, so 142.5 hours, 6 days.

However, it took over 2 and a half months to complete the 950 meter hole, drilling time = 75 days x 24 = 1,800 hrs.

Or 2 meters per hour.

Like OPM2010, I got out after Merriden, I also talked to people who had previous experience with the inventor - drillers and business men, you might want to talk to a couple.
