Last 5 years? No, I got out long ago for the dog it was (around $16 back then, not long after the issue as I had no confidence in them) and terribly glad I did. I bought back last year after about 6 months of watching it and researching. As I've said previously, it was hard to wrap my head around that they had actually turned the company around.

From the low in August last year of around $3.61 to a second and third dip in Sept/Oct of $3.71, all of which were during EU chicken little fear mode, AMP has recovered to it's present of (at last look) $4.26, which equates to 15% rise, if you want to look at it that way. As you know it's been hovering around this mark during the rest of the time.

To mention a few good points, AXA merger should prove beneficial as should the Mitsubishi UFJ deal. Mortgage and deposits are both up. Super holdings will also rise. All in all I am expecting good things for SP by end of year (baring a EU meltdown of course), once they can show positive effects of such in the balance sheet.

Speculatively Mitsubishi UFJ have stated publically they are looking to invest in Aus mortgage. Given their present relationship, should a deal be struck with AMP and M/UBJ supply funding, then one may expect even bigger things to come. Of course that is speculation, but far within the present capabilities of both, to the benefit of both, so time will tell.

That aside, AMP have turned me from a knocker to a supporter to the extent I've accumulated during the dips.

As a medium to long term investor, yields are very important to me, at present I'm a happy camper in AMP.
