Police search and rescue officers have removed two demonstrators who chained themselves to a drill rig during a protest in Melbourne's west.
Paul Connor and Natasha Mills were protesting against a coal exploration operation by Mantle Mining in Bacchus Marsh.
The pair is speaking with police.
No charges have been laid at this stage.
The anti-coal protesters chained themselves to a coal drilling rig at a site near Bacchus Marsh, this morning.
The move forced Mantle Mining to shut the drill down.
The company has been conducting test drilling at the site since last year and plans to mine brown coal there.
Local residents and environment groups oppose the plan.

That last sentence is incorrect. I believe it is just one local resident (singular) and not residents (plural).
