I've been trying to research the prices for Li Carbonate.
Battery grade would appear to be a common term in the industry meaning 99.5% pure. Most quoted prices are for this grade.
Given that 5000t is presold to Mitsubishi Japan and the remaining 12,000t to other Chinese buyers, the Chinese price would be more pertinent. Most of the information I found pointed to a price around RMB40/kg (AUD5900 tonne for 99.5% pure)
    eg http://www.asianmetal.com/news/viewNews.am?newsId=824803

However GXY has stated they will be capable of producing the whole 17,000t at 99.9% and some of that at 99.99%. I presume with the premium prices for higher purity they'd produce as much as possible at 99.9% or above. The initial DFS was based on only producing at 99.5%

From the August 2011 presentation, GXY show prices of $US5,500 for battery grade (99.5%), $US7,500 for 99.9%, and $US12,000 for 99.99%. They also stated previously that while Battery grade Li prices dropped around 20% during the GFC, the premium grades did not. Li Hydroxide is also around the US$6 to US$7/kg mark & GXY plan to produce around 5000 tonnes of it.

If they follow their business plan & ramp production to name plate 17,000t/pa, I believe they'll have healthy margins.
