No surprise about Germany reconsidering their nuclear stance. It was a hypocritical decision by the Germans anyway. They still planned to use nuclear energy - only it would be generated in Czechoslovakia and France. That is a dangerous plan as Germany would be at the mercy of other countries should energy be in short supply.
As for climate change ---- I disagree with your thesis Westsurf. Climate change is real and the outlook is worse than originally thought. It would be worth your while studying climate change science instead of adopting the Aussie miner knee jerk response that it is all "rubbish".
The facts are clear enough for anyone who cares to undertake a dispassionate study of the science. The extreme cold in Europe is exactly what the science predicts. We can expect extremes -- both hot and cold. And yes -- the Thames could well freeze over in your lifetime. But not because the world is getting colder.
