To me there's no real harm in having high hopes for the future.
After all, as investors or traders don't we all have high hopes?
As for 'speculative thinking', isn't that the essence of what we are all doing...
Speculating!
You're right, facts are paramount...but speculating on future potential or outcomes is a critical aspect of investing. You can't realistically eliminate speculation.
