The plummeting in the price of gas in the US, should not be related to the gas price in Aus. Their gas is being used to replace oil usage within US and has created a comparative glut of gas for local consumption. Hence the price slump.
Our gas will predominantly be exported and have also set much higher prices in GSAs. ICN, for example, has tied their gas price in their GSA to the Sigapore Tapis oil price and that will soon become the bench mark.
Qatar is the "risk" factor for FTURE GSAs, as they are the biggest producer and effectively control the price of exported gas for most countries that use (need) it.
That is why GSAs that have already been signed up, mostly for 20 years, will be at a much higher premium than those companies that have still not signed any GSAs.
BHP and all the other gorillas know that and that is why, IMO, we will see premium prices for our acreage in 218 and 855.
To Speculator101, that is why I have put such a premium on ICN's GSA, IF they can prove up the gas, and they seriously consider that they will satisfy that just from 855 (quite apart from what might be in the post Permian section of 218). Their GSA is for 2.2TCF, whereas their 40% share in 855 alone has been estimated at 8TCF.
BPT is certainly the jewel in the CB shale crown AT THE MOMENT and the SP should start reflecting that more accurately as they start releasing ACTUAL results, not what the sceptics now consider to be just hyperbole. PROOF!!
