The former Sydney lord mayor Lucy Turnbull may have a fight on her hands when the ASX-listed biotech she chairs, Prima, finally fulfils its mission of gaining a secondary listing on the Nasdaq.

After originally stating its plans to gain a listing on the Nasdaq in September 2010, Prima announced yesterday it had signed off the final pieces of paperwork to allow it to start trading on the electronic sharemarket based in New York.

But it seems someone has already put their hands up to ring the Nasdaq (electronic) opening bell when the big day comes. ''I don't get to ring the bell too often,'' Prima's deputy chairman, serial wheeler-and-dealer Albert Wong, said.

It will be the first time the businessman, best known for his close partnership with the former NSW premier Neville Wran, has sat on the board of a Nasdaq-listed stock.

But, to avoid any possible conflict, Wong seems open to the idea of two people ringing the bell. ''I'm sure our chairman Lucy would like to do it too,'' he told CBD.
