Oxycodone is an opioid analgesic medication synthesized from opium-derived thebaine and therefore needs to be prescribed.
OBJ has announced to develop a pain patch for muscosceletal pain for OTC applications.
OBJ also maintains the options to involve partner companies for the development which only makes sense on the heels of a contract with a partner providing the finances in any case.
Both patches are not targetting the same analgesic market, the pharmaceutical oxy patch of POH will have to run through the entire clinical phase program which is about 3 years longer than for an OTC delivery innovation.
Good news for POH today, but I agree, this has no effect on any of OBJ's partner programs.
It meant little for OBJ when the Fentanyl patch was developed, apart from the positive effect of increasing global awareness for transdermal patches which only can contribute to investor interest of Australian biotech pushing into this market.
