Kyrgyz government intends to create one of the best subsoil legislation – Vice Prime Minister for EconomyBishkek (AKIpress) - “Donor agencies offered assistance in development of a package of subsoil laws, but we decided to act promptly,” Vice Prime Minister for Economy Joomart Otorbaev said at the public hearings discussing the package of subsoil laws today.
The government plans to send its representatives to the regions upon public hearings in order to take into account local views about the subsoil operations. The package of laws will be submitted to the Parliament for consideration then.
“50% of royalties will go to local budgets. We hope the Parliament will adopt the laws. Our aim is not to miss the field geological season. People believe and await decisions from us. If we talk about economic recovery, the government must boost the potential of the mining industry,” Joomart Otorbaev said.
The stagnation is observed in this sector due to corruption and ambiguous legislation, Joomart Otorbaev said.
“It was proposed to grant veto right to the private sector to enable them to participate in development of laws. The process of creation of the given package of laws was utmost transparent. Our aim is to make one of the best or, perhaps, the best legislation on subsoil,” the Vice Prime Minister said.
MP Iskhak Pirmatov (Respublika), chairman of the parliamentary committee for development of all economic sectors, said the Parliament waits this package of laws to discuss and adopt them.
