The resident peewees are a sad looking pair. They have built four nests in the last couple of summers with no chicks. Last year they had an excuse: Yasi. This year it appears they are just going through the motions to keep their parents happy.
The guy still squawks and makes a noise but when he's walking his wings drag on the ground. The gal is a mess. Her right foot hangs uselessly on her leg.
I doubt they'll ever make us grand parents. :sigh:
