C'mon ppup, you know very well that insider trading exists in ALL markets, anyone that suggests that it doesn't is either: a naive numb nut; works for ASIC/ASX or perhaps working in education (most of my lecturers when I was at uni - you'd be a brave soul to suggest capital markets are open to abuse); or finally someone who is making a buttload of money by using the system to their favour.
The fact that ASIC spends so much time trying to prosecute people in itself confirms the existence of this kind of abuse. If you want to lessen your exposure, try big caps, at least you'll only be dealing with governments on the take then...think mining licenses, deals with unions (eg Multiplex), etc...
It's everywhere.
