we have to be careful with our conspiracy/manipulation theories....I was watching today's close very carefully.
The 107,000 buy order placed at $5.10 was not placed 'under the match' to create an image of Buy strength. The order was actually placed at 4.01 pm, BEFORE all the other Buy orders. And it was placed 2c ABOVE the last trade of $5.08 at 3.59 pm.
What happened was that other intending buyers knew they had no hope in the match unless they offered a higher price than the 107,000 buy, so they offered more. But if there were not enough buyers ahead, then the 107,000 buy would have been hit and the buyer would have been happy that the order was filled. IMO, it was not fictitious and was not manipulation.
Let's see if he/she comes back tomorrow morning.
