In a Jeune Afrique interview dated December 3, 2011, President Ismail Guelleh of Djibouti said, "Djibouti has reached the threshold [of] energy self-sufficiency, with the commissioning of four geothermal power plants – for which funding is completed – and the completion of a wind farm."
Four geothermal power plants! Funding completed! Why has this not been released to EHR shareholders? If the funding is sorted, then I guess Torey is waiting until he has nailed down the details, "in an effort to maximise shareholder value", before he makes his grand announcement to the market. The mention of four geothermal plants has also piqued my curiosity. The last we heard, the plan was for 3 stages of 50MW each. Four plants is news to me!

The interview is somewhat hard hitting in its attempt to hold the President to account on certain issues (which is an interesting read in itself). Some sovereign risk IMO, however, thankfully the funding is coming from other sources such as the World Bank etc.. and, presumably, any new government would be keen on maintaining power supply for the country. At least we have Argentina, with its booming economy, to balance that sovereign risk.
