Gee thanks guys for all your posts, it has given me a better picture of which direction to head.

I was planning on spending about $400- $500 on a set up.(rod, reel & line)

The old lady says she may shout me a couple of lessons for my birthday.

I would like to get into making some flies at some stage as I fell it would be fantastic to make a catch on something you have put together yourself.

Any ideas on making flies is it a simple job or does it involve a lot of skill??
