Yes, I had a good thought about your comment and can see where you are coming from.
So here's an update. Yesterday the 11 year old children were asked
"Do you think Australia is being swamped by refugees?"
(note the emotive language), then the class was asked to stand in line representing a spectrum from one end of the classroom from Strongly Agree to Strongly Disagree.
One child Strongly Agreed and the whole of Grade 6 is now calling that child a racist and refusing to talk to her.
I don't think this is being handled correctly
