I think your home has some serious energy issues. That's way too many units on a daily basis. I have 2 kids, 4/6 yrs and I understand that lights or Tvs may be left on indiscriminately. Our house is a mix of Fluro/Halogen and Incandescent globes. We even leave on a light(Fluro) in lounge over the night as security. A dark house means everyone is out or asleep where as a lit one can mean someone is home. Plus, it's a good night light if getting up for the toilet or a drink. We are indiscriminate with power usage and a summer 62 days comes in at about $200. That's with increased 40.14c/day supply charge and 21.87/unit power since July 2011.
The price of electricity is not high. I believe households now see how much they wasted prior. You don't notice when something is cheap. A bit like petrol. At 1.51, what I paid today, you realise that a 10km 'wasted' trip is worth 1.51. At 90c/L you would do multiple wasted trips without giving it a second thought.
I look at power this way. Synergy wants 40c per day to build all their infrastructure and deliver the power to my door. Any problems prior to my meter is their problem to fix with unlimited cost. Also $200 for two months to supply and me using(and wasting) all the power I desire. When I smoked I used to spend $100 per week, to harm my health. That's back in 2010 and cigs have gone up about 20% since. The power is a bargain.
Just a thought. Do you use a clothes dryer? They chew power. I'm not sure about pool/spa pump wattage but a pool pump is on 6hrs a day and a spa I don't know. With the air con, unless it's 36 and above for more than 3 days with no afternoon sea breeze, don't use it :))
