    dragonheart, I suspect the reason is, at least in part, that Lynas is playing their own political games and holding their cards very close to their chest.

    Lynas had stated that they would make background radiological readings available on a public web site, then after a period of deathly silence on the matter, were prepared to respond to investor enquiries by saying that the readings had been made and were made available to the public consultation committee but would not elaborate further.

    Then out of nowhere we get announcements from the director of the AELB stating extensive monitoring has been undertaken, background levels are 3 times higher than Malaysian averages, etc. In other words, Lynas had intelligently withheld from making the announcement themselves first as the opposition would have inevitably claimed it was lies used to cover the coming LYC induced radiation increases.

    Now there's a high chance that Fuziah will try to spread this lie anyway, but IMO Lynas has actually handled this issue very cleverly politically, with assistance from the AELB. I have to suspect something similar is going on with regard to the "final solution" for waste disposal...
