That was said regarding the gold Jantimot, but also explained as a possible diversion, then again how was this official estimate of total amounts of gold verified. Did it include the gold mined by the ancients, I doubt it. Take a journey of discovery of the gold stolen from Japan and Germany from the WW2 era and where it was reposited - Indonesia, New Guinea and Philippines. The world is a far stranger place than we have been lead to believe.

To write off the whole thing on a single contention of detail is ridiculous Jantimot. Where there is smoke, there is fire as the old saying goes. The problem in believability relates more to cognitive dissonance imo.

A grand jury is currently being organised to investigate diversion of Wanta funds at this time, so the whole thing is not mere speculation anymore.

Listen to Lord James of Blackheath's speech in the House of Lords on results of his ongoing investigations. It is wonderful that someone with the 'right' contacts and position is persuing the case.

There was also the case of the fake $US6T. treasury bonds last week, but were they fake? The boxes they were found in looked like the real deal.

There were also a couple of odd cases relating to massive sums of US T-bonds in recent years. $134 B. in the more recent case last year...nothing more heard since though, as is usual. Interesting comments in the EliteTrader forum regarding the difficulty of counterfeiting government bonds here:
