Time to bring you up to speed GZ; remember Hitler and Stalin were comrades and Stalin supplied Hitler with the raw materials to build his military. When Hitler broke the pact with Stalin and invaded Russia it was said that Stalin stayed in bed, shocked and depressed by the betrayal. Russia had little or no military defences and Hitler walked in undeterred right up to Leningrad and Stalingrad, it was the winter that stopped him from entering Moscow.

The Left and Totalitarianism

The history our children are taught today is a revised version of the facts seen only from a Left-wing, PC point of view. This academic orthodoxy and if you are not Left you donÕt get a job in a history faculty at an Australian University.
The extreme Left and the extreme Right converge in totalitarianism Ð they both support it with ease.
The far Left supported (and still support) Lenin, Trotsky, Stalin and Mao.
The far Right supported Hitler and the Nazi regime.
Lenin and Trotsky set up a totalitarian regime in 1917 which ruled by terror. Lenin died and Stalin took over. Trotsky was expelled. Stalin became the pre-eminent exponent of State terrorism.
He was uniformly admired by Socialists, Communists and fellow-travelers. Russia was seen as the great experiment, the Socialist paradise, the model for the world.
When Hitler came to power, he modeled his totalitarian state on StalinÕs terror. He noted the Great Hunger in the Ukraine in the early 30s and the Great Terror in the late 30s and learned from StalinÕs tactics. Both regimes were strongly anti-Semitic.
Hitler and Stalin had a great admiration for each other. This culminated in the 1939 Hitler-Stalin Pact. This was a non-aggression treaty signed in Moscow on August 23, 1939, by the Soviet foreign minister Molotov and the German foreign minister von Ribbentrop.
Communist Parties throughout the world immediately and smoothly became supporters of Hitler and Nazi Germany.
Nine days later, Hitler invaded Poland.
It is important to remember that Communists and Socialists everywhere actually supported Hitler when he started World War 2.
The non-aggression treaty lasted until Operation Barbarossa of June 22, 1941, when Nazi Germany invaded the Soviet Union.
Thus for the first 21 months of the war, the Left were allied with Hitler.
In 2005 we see the children and grandchildren of the Left of the 1930s supporting modern Islamo-Fascism.
The Left will always support a totalitarian state instead of a democracy. Left-wing totalitarianism is a "top-down revolution". The intelligentsia (or the cadres in power) impose their will (as the revolutionary vanguard) on the people.
Fascist Islamic states such as Iran are the modern variant of totalitarianism. This is why the Left has no difficulty in supporting them and hating democratic America (and Australia).
