"The balance always has to be somewhere so that workers can pay the rent and/or mortgage and bills, and employers can make a profit. Pushed too far either way is a recipe for trouble."

true a good big picture view
    But question...
why is the cost of living so high in australia?
    answer
the average wage in cambodia is about $600 a year and average wage in Australian is about $60,000 a year

Surely this must indicate that the something is out of whack

I mean it is cheaper to live in a hotel in cambodia than it is to own a flat in australia and pay body corporate fees

ie $120 body corporate in oz vs $105 for a hotel in asia
    ($15 x 7 = $105)
and with the hotel you get free wifi
In australia you would have to pay $70 per month for adsl
also you get free electicity, water, frig, hot water and
    cable

why is it so expensive in australia?
    well the answer is obvious.
Labor is getting paid too much
the gardener is making more than $60,000 a year and they should be getting paid half that
All the people in telstra from installers to call center operators have to get at least $60,000 when they should be getting paid half that
And why do we people here get paid to so much more than in third world countries and everything cost 10 or 20 times more here ?

It all goes back the Labor and the power of the unions

anyway one good thing about it all is that we can live like kings when we go overseas
