and that ability to produce is because most of the oil we are (have?) produced would be classed as "easy" to find oil to recover.
The Gulf of Mexico distaster of recent history shows the difficulty of obtaining access to new wells. (cant remember the depth, someone here will thou)
Again there's another off the coast of Brazil, at enormus depth, again something goes wrong ....
Was it Clinton (?) who said that the massive reserves in "pristine" Alaska would be locked up for all time.

I agree with you and your statement above, but with the difficulty of easy access to new oil fields, there's going to be some very interesting world debate on these issues during the next couple of decades.
