I remember trading it in 1998.... Members got free shares.... From memory the float price was around $19+ but on the first day it opened up in the high $30's (from memory) and quickly hit around $45.... Before droping back to the float price in the next few days....
Was pretty funny to watch as back then the ASX used to have a different pre-open matchup which calculated the opening price with a average price and volume calculation... On the day AMP had small bids at like $70 ....
AMP did demerge their UK assests later so the current price is not a true reflection...
