In the early days of NWE most of the news had to be found on another place where King Baz produced voluminous study & research about the company. There was no news elsewhere
about what was going on - the manager was known as "No news Joe" & one year there was even excitement about the arrival of a Xmas Cake at an office function. Most of
the focus was on exploration in the North Sea & month after month we peered at maps of potential oil & gas discoveries near existing producers - rather fruitless as only big multinationals had pockets deep enough for such difficult undersea terrain. As Shrewd says, it was a good thing that the company realized its mistake in time & switched focus before it was too late. Directors certainly thought they would be continuing their comfortable well paid lifestyle on the proceeds of Puffin
oil. Much of King Baz's research was on the guaranteed
success of the many wells drilled.

He was an indefatiguable worker & I often wonder if he lives amongst us today under another nom de plume. He had
a rather Clive Palmer or Gina Rhinehart personality
though. I hope he hung on to some of his NWE shares after all his altruistic efforts for others.
