Excellent news this morning with the commencement of Ungani EPT just six weeks away! I enjoyed the last part of the announcement where Eric was quoted saying,

"The other exciting thing about this project is the potential of the surrounding area. Our review of the prospects in the area with the background of the knowledge we have gained from our ongoing technical work at Ungani gives us confidence that there are likely to be more Unganis on our permits. We plan to drill as many of these as we can during this year."

After having read the announcement It was good to see Eric excited about the surrounding area (We do have our own cash and we can drill L11-2 ourselves!). I decided to do a little bit of research into the licenses 100% owned..my main focus was L11-2 which lays directly south of the Ungani discovery. I wanted to see if there could of been links as to why the applications for this license closed a day prior to positive Ungani results. It makes you think..is that a coincidence..or is Eric that clever with his timing? I like to think the latter. :D

So anyway..to follow on from license L11-1 and L11-2 (100% owned by BURU subject to native title). Below are some key points quoted from publicly available documents from the WA department of mines and petroleum.

"The presence of a thick Devonian and Carboniferous section on the Jurgurra and Mowla Terraces offer other play scenarios in those parts of L11-2. The Fairfield Group, particularly the Laurel Formation, is known for its source potential elsewhere, although there are few data close to the release area. The presence of minor oil and gas shows over a considerable interval of Fairfield Group and Anderson Formation in Cow Bore 1 just outside L11-2, is attributed to this petroleum system, and suggests that Upper Devonian to lower Carboniferous-sourced hydrocarbons could be entrapped in Carboniferous to Permian reservoirs in the northern part of L11-2."

Interesting to see that the Ungani Oil discovery lays directly north of L11-2 and is also adjacent to the Cow Bore 1 well which is mentioned above. IMO This confirms the interpretation made by the DMP.

The other wells drilled on L11-2 didn’t get to the required depths. Mahe 1 reached a depth of 1098 meters and Dampier Downs 1 went down to 923 meters. See below.

Well Locations for Cow Bore 1, Mahe1 and Dampier Downs 1 is below. I have also added the location of the Ungani discovery.

Ungani 1 had some oil shows noted over the interval 945m to 970m in the Grant Sandstones..but Ungani 2 didn’t have any oil shows until they drilled down to around 2230 meters..the top of the oil bearing Ungani Dolomite which is the key target depth.

The document is definately worth a read for BRU holders.
