Hi tradesman. I am not the most technically minded person but I will try to answer your question as best as I can.
Basically GCN is the only company in Australia that has the capabilities and skill set combined with their technology to enable them to use advertise funded free ISP.
It's called online interactive Media Solution.
To my understanding they were infact the first company in Australia to deliver broadcast quality to a smart phone.
They do have the capabilities and technology to be able to provide their service in a wide range of areas such as shopping centres, at cinema outlets etc. That is why I haves stated before that I don not believe that they will stop with their Wi fi involvement just with the train stations.
Having spent the best part of 12 years to develope this technology and having spent approx 30 million dollars perfecting and fine tuning this technology now places them in a unique position to take it not only nationally but perhaps internationally. Time will tell.
Exactly how it all works from a technical viewpoint, you would have to ask someone smarter then myself.
But the benefits of GCN's technology will be far reaching and in the coming months I am sure we will be finding out to what extent it can be utilised.
