The difference cgt is whether that activity harms other people.

Speeding excessively, dangerous driving, murder major pollution are all activities that can and have cause harm to others. They infringe upon the right and/or property of another.

You cannot include speaking freely in that category.

As for your 'without Governemnt intervention the individual rarely factors in the impact of his actions on others'...what a load of patronising crap.

The vast majority of people over the vast majority of the time factor in how their actions will impact on others. Those that do not are unfortunately and disproportionately found to be 'permanently' on some sort of welfare.

They have been zombified by governments and socialists to expect everything will be provided and that nothing is their fault. As a consequence they respect no one and nothing.

As for media concentration, you have a choice. You dont like what your hearing or reading then dont buy that paper. Go buy another paper or listen to the radio, or watch tv news or go on the internet. No one can make you read something you do not want to read...unless of course it is the government.

You socialists just dont get it. You think these new media proposals will work well but they will not. You think the current government will not exploit their new found power in this area but they will. And you think you will control government policy for ever and you will not.

What happens when the Libs get in and they give media to say Abetz. He will put who he wants on the Council and he will hold an inquiry on bias from the ABC. And lets face it, the ABC is biased and since it is funded by taxpayers dollars it is the one media organisation where it is imperative to be balanced.

Review finds ABC biased so all their content will go through a new government body for checking. I am sure this same review will find The Monthly biased. The Australian public can then look forward to similar length diatribes from Abetz and co that we currently have to endure from Swan and Rudd.

I bet, all of a sudden, free speech will once again be sacrosanct for the unctuous left.
