sensitivity from a muslim lady MUSLIMS DEPLORE TERRORISTS, TOO

As an Australian Muslim, the outrage and grief that I feel in the aftermath of the terror attacks is immeasurable. Sadly, it seems that the need to blame is often a knee-jerk reaction in the wake of such horror. Some letters (9/7) were quick to point the finger at British Government policy as a cause for this tragedy. A growing number of Muslims such as myself consider these arguments to be simplistic and highly insensitive. Waleed Aly (Opinion, 9/7) was correct in his statement that "morality must never be derived from the transgression of others".

Many talk-back radio callers have been expedient in their criticism of the Muslim community for not speaking out enough against this atrocity. Nothing could be further than the truth. Every Muslim I associate with has condemned these acts of terror, not to mention the numerous media releases put out by Muslim organisations. I urge my fellow Australians to unite in the face of this tragedy and put our sabres down.
