A number of comments on this thread got me reminiscing.

    Forgive me if I indulge.

I was born and raised in the north of the UK Life there was tough. As a kid we lived on poverty street.

In my early 30s, married, no kids, I had a job, a very good job by UK standards. Managed to buy a second hand car with a bank loan. Renting, no thought of ever having our own home. Pay cheque well above average but by end of every month was all gone.

Then wife and I migrated. Where to? Yes you guessed it....to Western Australia. Like they say....the rest is history....Nice house paid off yonks ago...children put thru private schooling...ditto both grandkids.....

The message I want to get across is two fold.

Part is one has to move to where the work is. It will not come to you.

The other part is you guys who complain about Australia have no idea just how lucky you are to be living here in the best country in the world. Yes, presently we do have a disfunctual federal government, but its only temporary.

    Cheers
