What is the purpose of the "super being" and do you propose that this "super being" is more complex or less complex than the universe. The debate can go 2 ways from there.
However, in a way you already answered the question. It is not what I think, it is what you think. Men can create the idea of anything supernatural they want. Whether or not that is logical is the debate. However the debate gets weak when religionists purport that their hugely varied supernatural beliefs are fact.
It seems we don't all need to substitute the unknown by something supernatural, and perhaps those that do are fulfilling some predisposed innate need(s) of conscious (refer elsewhere on this thread).
Obviously, what we now know because of science gives a far different view of earth history compared to what is described in, for example, an archaic text such as the bible. Religionists who take the word of the bible literally, are rejecting science. Commonly, we see religionists interpret and reinterpret the static verses of the bible in the dynamic and expanding world of increasing scientific knowledge. If one wants to fill the gaps in their knowledge with fantasy then that is fine, but to represent that fantasy as fact in the face of logic seems a rather anemic platform. For example, amongst arguments here we have "Noah's arc proves God", or the word God on the dollar bill proves God created man.
In the predominantly free and Christian culture of Australia one can say such things without too much fear of embarassment or mental examination. So obviously people are free to choose their own supernatural convictions, regardless of the logic.
