My posts address LYC and not the poster so I suggest, in line with HC posting guidelines that you do similar.
IMO China is more interested in the hi tec value added products derived from rare earths and not so much interested in rare earths per se. So in that sense, the price of rare earths is not as important as control in the long term. This is why it concerns Obama, the Japanese and the Germans who all want to stay ahead of China technologically to industrially survive.
I take a macro view of rare earths and consequently a long term view of LYC and IMO China will later compete favourably with the technologically advanced countries but in the interim, it will want to block the West's technological advancement and rare earths and LYC are merely pawns in that game.
