Fallguy , Did it occur to you , that your beloved ARIEL SHARON , is the only Israeli political figure , that could MAKE PEACE , with the ARABS who live western to the Jordan river ?
I dont know how old you are , but Charles DeGaullle , a political figure , with great similarities to Sharon , ended up making PEACE with the Arabs for the French people .History , mind you , still to ASSESS , whether the 10% ( and rapidly rising though ) current Muslim population , in France , is not a future menace to the French society and culture, and it is obviously a direct consequence of his letting in North Africans muslims to migrate to France .
Sharon , was born and brought up in Israel -pre-independence , and he grew NEXT to the Arabs inhabitants , and many of his close friends are Israeli and Palestinian Arabs .He knows them . YOU DONT ! YOU DONT ! Sharon , has an image problem , tainted by his political opponents in Israel and abroad . He is no stupid and definitely not a blood thirsty as many like to portray him .
IT IS UP TO THE ARABS to DO PEACE with ISRAEL. However , a true testimony of what Sharon , Peres and even URI AVNERI are facing , when dealing with the other side , has been PERFECTLY summarized by cheeck on this thread . If you read that post , and god forbid for you , you were an Israeli or Jewish , its contents , would cast a HUGE SHADOW , on any prospects , of achieving peace with them .
AND THIS IS THE PROBLEM . The FEFUSAL of the ARAB WORLD to accept ANY FORM OR SHAPE of the Jewish independent state of Israel . And the sore part of the saga is that Westerners like you are constantly playing at theor hands and encouraging them to go on with their bloodbath. I seriously advise you to consider touring Israel and see for youself wehther your fixed ideas are not completely based on sheer propoganda that is out of touch with reality . I am sure you will find my proposal to you as daunting as ever , because it is rather scary these days to tour Israel , you would think . At least this will give you a personal opportunity , to test your COURAGE and SENSE OF DECENCY . Duff
