Where did you get those costs blowy? I agree they are costs on the system but when my son was born it cost us nothing at all and we spent a week in hospital after my sons birth all on public health. Everyone I know that has private health got their equivalent from the public system but then paid extras due to having private rooms, doctor of choice etc.
